Getting Started
- Start a workout — Open Trotly and tap Start on the Tracking screen to begin measuring your walk or run.
- Pick a sound — Choose a fun animal sound (cat, dog, lion, tiger, dinosaur, and more) that plays when you slow down.
- Set your speed threshold — Use the slider to choose the speed that decides when sounds play, so Trotly matches your pace.
- Connect headphones — Pair your Bluetooth headphones or speaker so you can hear sounds and ambiance while you move.
- Stop anytime — Tap Stop to end the session. Your workout is saved to the Dashboard.
How Trotly Works
- Animal sound when slow — When your speed drops below your chosen threshold, Trotly plays your selected animal sound to nudge you to pick up the pace.
- Ambiance when fast — When you move above the threshold, lively background ambiance kicks in to keep your momentum going.
- Live metrics — The Tracking screen shows your time, current speed, distance, and top speed in real time, with an animated figure that moves faster as you do.
- Dashboard — Review your past walks and runs and track your progress over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Trotly need my location?
Trotly uses GPS to measure your speed, distance, and time. Background location lets tracking continue when your screen is off or the app isn't active.
Why does Trotly use Bluetooth?
Only to connect to your headphones or speaker so you can hear the sounds and ambiance. Trotly does not scan for or collect data about other devices.
No sound is playing — what should I check?
- Make sure your headphones/speaker are connected.
- Confirm the "Animal sound when slow" or "Ambiance when fast" toggle is on.
- Check that your device volume is up and not in silent mode.
- Verify your speed is above/below the threshold as expected.
My speed or distance looks off.
GPS accuracy can vary indoors or among tall buildings. For best results, use Trotly outdoors with a clear view of the sky.
Does Trotly work in the background?
Yes. Tracking and audio continue when the app is in the background, as long as you've granted background location permission.
Is my data private?
Your activity history stays on your device. Optional data sharing is off by default and fully under your control. See our Privacy Policy for details.
